Where to Stay in Bhubaneswar (What I’d Check First)

A friend of mine told me that he  booked a hotel in Bhubaneswar because the photos looked lovely. Also, he could see the lobby was lovely. Moreover, the room faced a wall and  the AC rattled all night.  The best part is, the nearest decent tea stall was 2 minutes from the hotel.

But, I am very skeptical about it.  So I'd look for the following facts before paying anyone.

Where it sits on the map -

Bhubaneswar looks compact, but traffic can eat your day. The airport is quite close to the main areas, so you don’t need to plan around it. The railway station is another matter, especially at night. If temples are the point of your trip, Lingaraja and the old town are the places to be near. Coming for work? Check the distance to your office, not the distance to the city centre. They are rarely the same.

Reviews, but read them like a skeptic -

Ignore the five-star gushing and the one-star rants. Read the middle ones. Look for the same complaint showing up again and again, like slow lifts, a smelly bathroom, or a rude desk. One bad review is bad luck. Five is a pattern.

The basics -

Plenty of families search for the Best Hotels in Bhubaneswar, and I get why. You want a place where you can relax after a long day. But “best” means different things to different people. For me it’s boring stuff: hot water that works at 6 a.m., an AC that actually cools, and a bathroom I’m not afraid to enter. Ask about those before anything else.

Premium Hotels in Bhubaneswar  will offer you  you bigger rooms and a proper restaurant, and some have a pool or gym.

Food -

Try the local stuff at least once. Dalma, pakhala on a hot afternoon, fresh fish. Ask if the hotel kitchen makes them, or whether it’s all just generic north Indian menus. You can find those anywhere.

Timing and safety -

If you’re travelling alone, send your booking details to someone at home. The premium hotels are meant for offering total safety to their guests.

One last thing -

Pick up the phone and call. Ask what time check-in is, whether breakfast is included, and where you can park. A clear, friendly answer tells you a lot. A vague one tells you even more.

So, as you have the need to booking the hotels in Bhubaneswar, try to review the above factors to make your stay comfortable and safe.
